- Version 1
-
- Copyright 1991, Wayne Zimmerle
-
- Recommended for ages 3 to 6
-
- Holly's Numdrops may be used for a trial period of 1 month.
- Please feel free to pass copies on to your friends.
-
- Shareware dealers and BBSs have permission to distribute copies of
- Holly's Numdrops as long as all the files are intact and only a
- nominal copy fee is charged.
-
- To begin play type num and press enter.
-
- These are the files that go with Holly's Numdrops Version 1,
- num.exe, numdrops.doc, order.frm, prntdoc.bat and order.bat.
-
- Minimum requirements are an IBM XT or compatible with 256K ram
- and a CGA card. (It will run with a simcga type program on a
- monochrome monitor.) Program speed is set for a 10Mhz XT. The
- default speed selection is 5. Simply press ENTER to accept this
- selection. Normal speed is set up for an XT running at 10 mhz.
- (Find the speed that suits your child. Remember the higher levels
- increase in speed.)
-
- There are 10 levels to Holly's Numdrops. They get progressively
- harder with each level. A parent or older adult may want to run
- through the instructions and help the child get started the first
- couple of times.
-
- The player may quit at anytime between levels by pressing n or N or
- the ESC key. To continue play at a higher level simply press y or Y
- or ENTER to continue the game. The player may also quit anytime simply
- by pressing the ESC key. (Even during play.)
-
- Level 1 to 3 have the numbers 1 to 10 flash on across the bottom
- of the screen. You may want to point this out to the younger ones.
-
- Level 1 (SAME AS) ( = ) is the simplest in that all the player has
- to do is press the same number that is falling to climb up a rung
- of his or her ladder. If the falling number reaches the bottom of
- the screen before the correct key is pressed Mugsy gets to climb up
- a level of his ladder. If Mugsy ever gets all the way to the top
- Mugsy and Bugsy will rain numbers down on the picnic and the game
- is over.
-
- Level 2 (NEXT ONE) ( + ) is like level 1 except this time the
- player must press the next number after the falling number in order
- to climb up the ladder to get to the next level.
-
- Level 3 (BEFORE) ( - ) is like level 1 and 2 except that now the
- player must press the number which comes before the falling number
- to climb up the ladder.
-
- Level 4, 5 and 6 are just like level 1, 2 and 3 except the hint
- numbers are no longer shown. The falling numbers also fall faster.
-
- Level 7, 8 and 9 are like 4, 5 and 6 except again they are faster.
- The other difference here is that the player only gets one try to
- get the correct response. (Some parents may find that their children
- are bright enough to figure out that on levels 1 to 6 they can hit
- all the keys one at a time until they get the correct response.)
-
- Level 10 is the hardest and last level. If the child can get
- beyond this they can probably now count to 10 forward and backward.
- They will also have grasped the concepts of =, + and -. The falling
- numbers alternate between =, + and - in a random fashion on this last
- level. The child still only gets one chance per falling number.
-
- If your child enjoys this game the registration fee is $15.00.
- With this registration he or she will also receive a very similar
- game, Holly's Bignumdrops, for the numbers between 10 and 100. And
- to sweeten the deal two packages of candy. One for each game to be
- given to the child the first time he or she completes the game on
- his or her own.
-
- There is also available another game, Holly's Letsdrop, which does
- for the alphabet what Holly's Numdrop does for numbers. It has 13
- levels using both upper and lowercase letters. It uses the same
- before and after theme to teach the child the alphabet backward and
- forward. (If someone asks you what comes before r, do you have to
- go a b c etc? Once the child masters Holly's Letsdrop he or she
- will know immediately.) The registration fee for Holly's Letsdrop
- is only $15.00. It also comes with a package of candy to reward
- the child for the first time that he or she completes the game.
-
- You may want to qualify the above by adding that level 10 must be
- reached using a certain speed selection. Or you may supply your own
- reward for each time a player reaches the end of level 10 at a higher
- speed. Another option would to be to dole out the reward in parts.
- Like so much for reaching level 3 and so much for level 6 or even
- something for finishing each level. Use your imagination and do what
- is best with your particular child.
-
- You can register Holly's Numdrops and Holly's Letsdrop together at
- a special price of $25.00. You get Holly's Bignumdrops and 3
- packages of candy with this. (A sweet deal.)
-
- The phone number for registered user support is 309-686-0192.
-
- Make checks payable to Zimco.
